Introduction to Audio Engineering
Learn how to use all of the
standard types of audio equipment and their basic theory of operation.
All types of microphones, mixing consoles, compressors, EQ's reverbs,
power amps will be covered with live demonstration during classes.
Students will have the opportunity to sit in on an actual recording
session or travel to a gig with a local production company to see what
it is like to be an audio professional. Classes will also cover
maintenance and troubleshooting of studio and PA system hardware.

Commercial Music Theory
If you are going to be working in the music business, you need to know
the difference between "off key" and "on." This course will give you the
ins and outs of music theory, ear training and harmony in a way that
relates to commercial and contemporary music from rock'n'roll to

Digital Music Production
Learn how to record music at home with the latest in digital music
production. Upon completion of course students will be able to mix

Recording & Mixing w/ Pro Tools
Importing, Exporting, File Management, Advanced Mixing, Editing,
Monitoring and Mastering using the industry standard Pro Tools platform
will be the main focus of the class. Students will be required to
complete recording projects for a final grade. This course includes a
two-hour lab. There is no prerequisite for this class but students in
the certificate program should take Studio Recording 1 and 2 before
taking Recording and Mixing w/Pro Tools. Textbook: Pro Tools 101

Studio Recording
Learn the latest techniques in audio recording. From analog to digital
this course will improve your abilities to record music at home or in a

Studio Recording II
Supplement to the Studio Recording Course- required for Certificate
Program students. One-on-one course featuring 8 hours of hands-on use of
a Pro Tools system with an instructor. Requires purchase of or access to
Pro Tools LE software and interface. Coursework to include assignments
for out of class recording projects, opportunities to assist in several
actual studio recording sessions, assistance in selecting a project and
procuring the proper equipment. Student must pass final exam and present
a recording demo project for critique to pass the course. This class
includes a two-hour lab. This class must be completed within two years

Music Made Easy
If you enjoy music and
would like to know more about what makes it work, this is the course for
you. You'll gain a complete understanding of rhythm, melody, and
harmony, and you'll be able to recognize pitches on the musical staff
and on the keyboard. You'll also be able to build intervals, major
scales, and chords. By the time you complete this comprehensive and
