WorkKeys Preparation - Reading for Information
Reading for Information is the skill of reading and understanding common workplace documents. These include letters, manuals, procedures and memos. KeyTrain examines the essential aspects of understanding and applying information given in these practical situations.

WorkKeys Preparation - Applied Mathematics
Applied Mathematics is the skill of applying mathematical reasoning and problem-solving techniques to workplace situations. KeyTrain's Applied Mathematics emphasizes the application of these skills to real-world situations.

WorkKeys Preparation - Locating Information
Locating Information is the skill of finding, extracting, understanding and using information that is not in the form of normal text. These types of documents include charts, graphs, tables, forms, maps and drawings. Many traditional school curricula do not treat this as a separate topic. Companies find that this is one of the areas where tools such as KeyTrain are most needed. KeyTrain examines all of the document types identified in ACT suggested curriculum.

WorkKeys Preparation - Applied Technology
WorkKeys Applied Technology focuses on the ability to apply an understanding of modern technology in order to identify and solve common types of problems. Emphasis is placed on a broad understanding of scientific principles instead of quantitative calculations. These skills are applied in troubleshooting realistic systems.

WorkKeys Preparation -Writing
Writing and Listening are the skills of understanding audio information and relaying that information in a different form. These skills are evaluated together in a WorkKeys assessment. Similarly, KeyTrain groups these together in two companion courses.

WorkKeys Preparation - Business Writing
Business Writing reviews the skills needed to write original business-oriented passages. Emphasis is placed on persuasive writing, including organizing arguments and providing supporting details.

WorkKeys Preparation -Listening
Listening is an essential component of many modern jobs. The listening skill measures the ability to convey factual information from spoken messages. The style and grammar of the written message is not considered.

WorkKeys Preparation - Observation
Most trades and jobs are learned largely through On the Job Training (OJT). The ability to effectively learn from OJT depends on a person's observation skills. Good observation skills also allow a person to learn from and adapt to new situations. Many businesses are now beginning to appreciate how critical observation is to their success.

WorkKeys Preparation - Teamwork
Teamwork skills are essential to improving productivity in the workplace. WorkKeys and KeyTrain examine teamwork as it pertains to making the workplace more effective for both the employee and the business.

WorkKeys Preparation - Beginning Skills
The KeyTrain Beginning Skills™ series is a tool for those persons needing additional assistance to master the tools required for basic workplace literacy. Specifically, this series is intended to assist in the fundamental prerequisite skills that should be mastered before beginning the traditional KeyTrain curriculum series. Accordingly, these are also the skills that would assist a person in being able to score on scale in the ACT WorkKeys assessments, particularly in Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information. Additionally, other pre-WorkKeys skills are included in the standard KeyTrain curriculum.
