Court Interpreting Certificate Program
Quality interpretation services in the judicial system play a major role in assuring due process and adequate legal representation for all non-English speaking clients, as provided for by the 5th, 6th , and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Mastery of the interpretation techniques, bilingual legal terminology, and strict adherence to the code of ethics are key elements that advance the highest quality services in the Judiciary. Textbook included.
The Court Interpreting program prepares bilingual individuals for the South Carolina legal certification exam. This eighty-hour training offers students 60 hours of intensive classroom instruction plus a 20-hour practicum that provides vital experience to work in the court, penal, and law enforcement settings. The program is divided into four courses:
